Alan Parsons: The Secret



Tidal Streaming.

I was perusing Tidal and came across this album, which came out last year, but I had somehow missed all this time.

The first cut caught my eye, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". and yes it is that The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Just think Paul Dukas with a twist of Dark Side of the Moon and you will be in the right place.

It was a fun listen. Stylistically it is very reminiscent of the sounds of the original Alan Parsons Project.

Found this artist tonight on Roon. Wanted to hear different versions of Shenandoah, a favorite tune of mine. Her rendition was stunning and I then found her album. What a beautiful voice 🎶🎶 👏 👏

Miles Davis: Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud (Lift To The Scaffold)



Tidal Masters 96

I came across this 1958 release on Tidal. I had never heard of it nor come across it in a record store before, but late 50s Miles is right up my alley so I was very excited to give it a spin. Well I was no disappointed at all. This is a great album. Musically is is in a similar style to Kind of Blue, which is pretty good company to keep. This on will be sitting right close to the top of the pile when it comes to Miles albums.

If you have never heard it it is well worth searching for. Available on Tidal, Qobuz and Amazon music and I am pretty sure it will be found on other streaming services as well.

Arlo Guthrie: Live in Sydney

Recorded during Arlo's 2004 Australian tour.

I have seen him in person a number of times and this album really recreates the whole experience of a Arlo concert. If the producers had cut the 21 minutes of Arlo's talking in between songs, this could have been a single 80 minute CD. Luckily they went for the extra $1.00 in production expense and gave the complete package. After all, Arlo w/o him going off on his verbal tangents just isn't Arlo. Kinda like an Oreo without milk.

And the fact that it has very good SQ  just completes the package.
