That's a good one too though I don't have it.  Oh well, Christmas is coming...

Tracy Chapman

One of the most striking debut albums ever released, this disc instantly established Chapman as a musical force, and with good reason. Immediacy, integrity of purpose, and unqualified artistry are apparent in nearly every song. And while "Fast Cars" remains Chapman's best-known work, "Talkin' Bout a Revolution" is that rarest breed: a song which is both topical and timeless. Any exploration into Chapman's work should begin with this at times stunning effort; it's a disc of remarkable uniformity and clarity that Chapman has yet to improve on. --Wayne Pernu

Justin Haywood - John Lodge: Blue Jays

Recorded in the mid 70s while the Moody Blues were "on sabadical" trying "to find themselves" as a group. Good SQ with a strong Moody Blues flavor to the music. All in all 69 cents well spent.

Antonio Carlos Jobim: Urubu (Orchestra arranged on conducted by Claus Ogerman)

I picked this up because I like some of Jobim's earlier work with Stan Getz and Frank Sinatra. Wow, this is about as far from Bossa Nova as you can get. It is kind of a mix of Brazilian Jazz with Improvisational New Age. A lot of the reviews on Amazon hail this as one of Jobim's greatest masterpieces. I'm glad the enjoyed it, but it just didn't do anything for me. I'll pass on this one.

The Best from Buddah

While Buddah Records had many successful artists (Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, The Isley Brothers, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Brewer & Shipley,Curtis Mayfield and Charlie Daniels just to name a few,) in their later years, the first thing that most people think of when their name comes up is there association with "Bubblegum" music in the late 60s.
This LP is a collection of their most successful Bubblegum hits. Who can forget "Green Tambourine", "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy", "Chewy, Chewy" and "Simple Simon Says?"    (I don't know they didn't seem so corny when I was 9 years old.    Now my son on the other hand was collecting Beatles and Pink Floyd albums when he was 9. Just goes to show the positive effect of proper parenting.  :thumb:)

I thought it might be fun to revisit some of the AM radio songs of my grade school days. What I did not realize was that while these songs may have sounded OK on a 1960s vintage AM transistor radio, the SQ is bad enough to make your ears bleed when played on a 21st century high end system.  #-o

I don't know if it is the original tapes or the mastering of this particular album, but I am beginning to think that the phrase bubblegum music must mean that whoever produced this album must have had gum stuck in his ears at the time. I can't think of any other way that somebody could have listened to the test pressing for this album and said "yeah that's good, that's go with it."   :duh

Some things just aren't even worth the 69 cent asking price at the Crack House.  :(

I bet this is just like Fausto Papetti where almost as many people buy the album or the cover as for the music.  aa :yay2: aa
