I hadn't played this CD since I upgrade my DAC from a stock DIO to a Boulder Cable Mensa Mod version. This disc scared the cr#p out of me. the first cut threw a three demensional sound field like nothing I have ever before heard form a 2 channel system. My son & I both sat there and swore that we we listening to something being played in 5.1 surround.

Banjo Bonanza



Just an old-fashioned banjo band. For those of you who grew up on Long Island, reminds me of Friday nights at the old Bourbon Barrel in Massapequa. Surprisingly good sonics for a local production. Can be found on amazon for under 2 bucks.

Great album to get started in hard bop, probably the biggest selling bop album of all time. Launched Lee Morgans career with stunning solos on Moanin and Are You Real. This record made Blakey from a great drummer and sideman into sitting at the head table of top ten greatest jazz bandleaders.

Very highly recommended for the jazz newbie and old boppers alike. This is one you listen to 1000s of times and it never stops giving. The Sgt peppers of small band modern jazz.
