Music from the Motion Picture Masked and  Anonymous

Columbia CD

A collection of Bob Dylan songs played by various artists.

I saw this at the library and picked it up because I saw the LP versions of this selling for high prices on ebay , $75+ for a standard pressing, $130+ for the Classic Records 140g version and 200+ for the Classic 200g release.

I was curious to see what the fuss was about this album.

Well it was OK, worth a listen, but I certainly wouldn't run out and drop that kind of money on a copy. There is a lot of other stuff I would buy first.

Glad I took the time to listen, but also glad that I did not need to pay for that privilege.

Tonight's music time was cut short by a pretty severe thunder storm.

When the listening room lights up like somebody is taking photos with some commercial flash heads it's time to pull all the plugs and protect the stereo equipment from the possibility of lightning surge damage.  :(

Tommy Turrentine

DSD sourced from an Audio Fidelity SACD

Older brother of Stanley, Tommy worked mostly as a sideman. This is the only album he got to record as a leader before ill heath forced him into an early retirement.

Musically an enjoyable album with very clear SQ. My only nit pick with the album is that it is complete ping pong stereo with absolutely no center fill. But that was pretty typical of 2 track stereo albums back when this was made in 1960. While I noticed the lack of center fill it did not detract from my ability to enjoy the music. I would say that this one is a keeper.
