Here is a selection in which a 1713 Stradi is compared to a 1743 Guarneri. Of course both are world class violins.
This selection is good for testing the resolving power of one's system/venue in the midrange (without bass/lows
present).

Steve,
Quite interesting and much to admire in what such artisans accomplished. It did make me curious about preservation and restoration of violins and, of course, utube has videos about that.
Hi Nick,
Yes, I was also wondering about preservation, and how much, if any, of the great characteristics have been altered when restoring such fine instruments. Another question to me is what strings are she using in the violins? What about each violin sounding different from the same manufacturer?
Did she use the same bow with each instrument since that affects the sonics, at least from someone who owns a hundred grand violin and has accompanied Itzhak Perlman once told me. I assume what he said was true.
Here is another selection that I think is tough to reproduce. See what you guys think about its quality.
