Just want to thank Jim and his wife for showing us a great time. You sure have big burgers up in Connecticut. How do you grow them so big? Must be the soil.
Beautiful home as Bob's pictures will attest to. Weather could not have been better.
My favorite ( favourite --Britsh English--. Ive been watching a little too much TopGear on BBC America) monitor were the Oskars. When you try to push out too much bass from a monitor, it screws the midrange up IMHO. The Oskars didn't do that.
Good to see Maurice ( Waaa...Waaaaaa)...er...Wes again. Always interesting to get some insight into the audio biz.

Anyways, I think Topround is hosting next month. If so, I'll take the following.

Thanks to Jim and Jane for hosting. A special thanks to Jane for taking my boys to the beach and keeping them occupied, I hope they did not leave any starfish in the backyard.

The Lenehans were very big dynamic and punchy, tremendous bass...maybe too much because it does screw up the mids a bit. Oscars were very nice but not punchy enough, wish I heard Jim's Opera's again but i was too late.

Jim's rave's always sport great weather, it never fails! and that back yard patio overlooking the ocean is just a wonderful spot to drink beer/wine and chat about the very important subjects in life like audio!

BTW those Tannoys really like your Jadis integrated.

Sorry the vinyl did not work out so well

System consists of an amp a preamp, 2 speakers a turntable and a phono preamp, Also some cables and power cords and a really cheap cd player.

Well my first day out since surgery was wonderfull. Jim you and your Wife are blessed with a beautiful home and spirit.
The people, food and music was what I needed. Those Tannoy's hit me in the heart  with their woody full presentation. The Lenehan ML-1 Ref. [ authorized dealer] small footprint surprised us with accurate tone and life sized image. The Fritz speaker was similar to the Tannoy rich and full.
Thank you all again for a great day.  :thumb:

Hi Jim,

Sorry I didn't let you know I was busy yesterday-

Ironically, the party I went to yesterday was originally scheduled for one of the Saturdays in August that I thought might have been one of your Aug Rave dates. So the host rescheduled it. To the Irene weekend. So then it got rescheduled to yesterday!

So I missed your Rave because my party was originally rescheduled to avoid your Rave, but then ended up being the same day.

Anyway, hope to see you soon, and sincere thanks for the invite anyway!

I'm happy everyone enjoyed themselves.  I was a very pleasant afternoon.

I'm surprised there weren't more comments about the NAKSA amp.  I think it's a super amp.

Thank you Jim and Jane for hosting the Sept. Rave... :thumb:

A very enjoyable day in CT. ....good food...good people ...and good tunes.

The speaker comparison was fun....all with different flavors.....pick your poison.

One again ...your system sounded excellent...a nice warm feeling.

It is......a very nice compact SS amp...did bring some life to the ML-1 speakers...they tend to sound best with SS.

A fun day....and a good time...thanks again....and please thank Chuck (your neighbor) for providing me a parking spot. :thumb:

On your Tannoys the Naksa amp did bring a level of bottom end control, but the Jadis made them bloom and sing. The Naksa was necessary for the Lenihan to sing though.
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have  to blow your nose.

For the Tannoys, I preferred the Jadis for the midrange & highs. For sure the NAKSA is a great bass amp, but for me the midrange is "where we live"...

NAKSA was a good match for the Lenehan's...

Jim and Jane, thanks for hosting a fine Rave. I had a great time with the Guys. Your home and views are beautiful!

Your system is very, very nice. Beautiful rich tone with big bass. The Jadis fleshed out the sound, which I liked better then the NAKSA amp. The NASKA controlled and tighten up the bass better.

The NASKA on the Lehehan's was a better match.

Thanks again for having us!

Hi Chris And All

I had the Naksa and ML1's in my main system for quite a while - very nice.  And yes the ML1's really do come to life with SS amps like the NAKSA.  But I also had a Leben CS300XS and it sounded great as well - terrific mid-range for vocals.  I have in fact come to the conclusion with Lehehan speakers having both a SS and valve amp on hand is the way to go.  For my ML3 I have an Audiosector Patek and Trafomatic Experience 2 SET but am eying off a NAKSA 100.

Thanks
Bill

Bill,

Thank you for making the Lenehan's available to us.  They are very special monitors.  The bass was very good for such a small speaker; the midrange and treble were clear and focused.  These speakers were the best of the bunch this day.  The tube amp used is  Jadis DA50S with KT66 tubes, about 30 watts/channel. The bass with this amp was very anemic.
The Fritz speakers sounded "chesty" to me.  The female vocalist went from 110lbs to 300lbs. Yes, they have good bass but at the expense of midrange clarity and tone. My Operas are usually nice but one woofer is shot so not a fair comparison.  The ATC SCM 11's are great small speakers IMHO.  They don't have low bass or great sound staging but the midrange purity is unparalleled.
The Oskar Aulos' are very nice with a very airy treble and upper midrange.  They lack the slam and bass of the other speakers.  With a proper triode amp they sound very 3-dimensional.

Thanks again Bill for allowing them to travel to my home.  I hope to meet you, if your travel to the States.

Hi Hogg

I simply don't know what to say except thanks and you are welcome.

Your kind offer is much appreciated but my arthritis really limits my ability to travel.  However the posts of the pictures and video were much appreciated.

Thanks
Bill
