Got a feeling I am going to enjoy a cup of this Java.  Keep us posted.

Listening to some Carpenters now through their bigger brothers the ML3's and this Truth thingy I got:

The truth is a pretty amazing piece of gear - highly recommended.

Thanks

Pics are in my gallery labeled lenehan ML1.Can't post them in the thread for some reason We had a little shootout and was allowed to have a few guests so please do not be insulted. I think all the speakers performed very well considering their size. Well almost,Bob's Accapella's were tossed out of the house.

The Line up was
Lenehan ML1 :thumb:
Fritz Carbon 7 :)
Episode 700 :D
Accapella's ?   :duh only kidding. I personally did not hear these as I was outside for a short time... A very short time.

More to come

The Lenehan ML1 is  great little speaker. Sparkling highs , cymbals shimmer and the mids have layers of texture. Vocals stand out nicely without overpowering the rest of the music.Lots of presence. Being a small speaker with a 5.5 inch woofer obviously doesn't give you the slam a tower speaker would but it is tight and realistic sounding, drums sound like drums. I'm sure a nice sub would be a great addition to these speakers. Very enjoyable to listen to. we threw everything at them from classical to rock and they did not dissapoint. We had them set up in the livingroom which is roughly 16x22 and they filled the room with no probelm.Towards the end of the evening we moved them downstairs to my listening room in which being smaller gave them a little more bass impact. I would love to hear the larger version of these someday.(hint,hint).

Fit and finish are top notch. The cabinet is some type of composite material . At first glance they look black but when you hit them in the right light they are a beautiful Eggplant color with a sparkle to them. Very heavy for the size. You can see a rendering of the guts on their website.

I'm sure other people will chime in later.I'm going to do some more listening :duh Cats out ,they are still in my possesion  :thumb:

Will keep this mostly about the Lenehans but I want to say that the Episode 700 were a suprise. Nice musical speaker. Inexpensive. Great for a spare room.

I put new tubes in Dee's pre because the ones he had in there were microphonic and I couldn't listen to it. It's been here for months and I never used it until yesterday. Nice tone. We mostly used Karls pre. Very expensive parts . Not sure which? maybe Bob or Pete will chime in about his Pre and DAC. The minimax DAC was very nice and I liked it with the tube mode versus the SS mode.

Hi Guys

Great you like the ML1's.  I will show this to Mike and its likely he will chime in with a few technical details straight from the horses mouth.  But I can tell you what they are built from is standard MDF but lined with steel - which is why they weigh a bomb.  This is why I am really grateful to Chris for lugging them around. The color is called Radiant Ebony and is nearly black but with just enough difference to make it a nice discussion point.

Don't worry guys things are afoot to get you the larger ones - both the ML2's and ML3's.

Hope some others can chime in with what they thought.

Thanks
Bill

The ML1's definitely play above their size. They sounded far bigger than they look, and yes, they are hefty. In my opinion they are very transparent to the source and we definitely heard shortcomings in the source until the better DAC's were inserted. They had nice punchy bass, but I do wish I could hear their big brothers. I think they will need to be paired with a sub for a room as large as Evan's. That tweeter is very nice indeed.

The Fritz Carbon's were the polar opposite of the ML1's, being a bit darker and warmer and much more forgiving and laid back. Mike's episode 700's were very nice too, and a bit of a surprise to me at how nice they sounded overall. The Clements bookshelf speakers I brought over were outclassed completely, sounding disjointed and rough, but then I kind of expected that since they were priced way lower than the others and not billed as "Audiophile". In fact Evan's original Cambridge speakers sounded better.

As for Carl's DAC's, it was a way overbuilt design using 4 NOS DAC's and a beefy power supply filled with boutique parts. Carl can provide the details, I'm sure. The Minimax was also very nice, being a bit more detailed than Carl's NOS DAC. I do like that it can be switched between tube and solid state, one sounding better on one set of speakers and the other better on another. It was pretty neat that of all these small speakers there was such a variety of different sounds coming from them. No two sounded alike (and I bet you thought designers were all shooting for the same goal of accurate sound - nah).

We also heard Joe's system, where Carl's preamp added a nice additional warmth and texture to the sound, although Joe's preamp is no slouch either. Very nice and enjoyable sound - something I could listen to forever.

Evan,
Thanks for hosting a fun listening session. Great to finally meet DeePak (Shadowlight) & Mike (mfsoa).

Yeah, Carl's 6sn7 based preamp (with 274B rectification), which is transformer-coupled with Tango output trannies and a Tango choke, sounded very nice. Also, his 12AU7 based DAC (very big chassis) sounded very musical as well.

He also performed some "cap surgery" next door (literally) on Joe's (jbtrio) gorgeous Supratek preamp, substituting some oil-filled V-Caps in there... Joe - your Nervosa is really perking!

'Till next time, audios!
Pete

Well sounds like I missed a great day. Family graduation and Birthday parties , oh well next time. No surprise to me the results. The ML-1s perform way above their size. I hear the deicated stands from Lenehan improve the performance even further oh my.
