Title: Hi from NC
Post by: SteveZ on February 15, 2022, 08:23:42 AM
I’ve been interested in 2 channel stereo equipment and sound since the early 70s. I’m on the older side of young. Someone on the Audiogon forum linked this site and said it was a nice place to post. Thanks for the opportunity to join! I noticed several members listed their devices. Is that the norm for this site?

Regards to all,
Steve

Hi Steve. It’s great to have you here!  Yes, it’s fine if you post what devices you have. I enjoy seeing what the guys use and it’s been very helpful in me upgrading my gear and cables.

SteveZ - another NC guy here.   In fact, much of AudioNervosa originated with a bunch of guys here in NC (among others) back in early 2007 if I recall correctly.  Pretty sure Nick B has been around since those days as well.  Where in NC are you?    I'm in Durham.

Yes, Mike. Since 2-11-2007. Happy to be here  :thumb:

Nick!  You beat me by 3 days.   Do you remember how you first heard about AudioNervosa?  (and were you part of the crew that got a AN t-shirt?)

Welcome.  We're a small site, but that also make us a family.  Glad you're with us.

Hi Mike,
So it appears I have seniority…by 3 days…??   I checked over at AC and I registered there on 7-25–2005. So I’m pretty sure that I found out about AN through AC. I’ve been over at Agon for quite a while as well. Can’t get logged in right now to check the exact date.
As to that T-shirt, no I didn’t get one. I think Richidoo was part of the original founding group.

Yep.  Rich (Richidoo), Carl (Carlman) and a number of others were all part of that early effort.  If I remember correctly, it was Carl that first put up the AudioNervosa forums back in early 2007.   A number of us knew each other from local audio G2Gs here in the RTP area of NC and just saw a need for something better so along came AudioNervosa.  I'm sure word spread via numerous other forums such as AC, Agon & AudioAsylum.  Didn't take long for a number of other big contributors to jump in.   The t-shirts and current site branding came about in late 2010/early 2011 I believe.

Nick, can't believe we've been here for 15 years and thank you for carrying the torch!   I'm not sure it gives us seniority, but perhaps more than a bit of senility?    I'm mostly just an occasional lurker here these days but still enjoy the visit.  A lot of good people here that have kept AN an engaging and hostile-free place to spend time.

I joined in Oct 2011.
Where's my dang t-shirt.
Looking at Steve's outfit, he should fit in here nicely.

Guys, just to set the record straight, nobody "got" one of the AN tee shirts. Carl had them made up back in the spring of 2011 as thank you gift for people who made donations to help cover operating costs of the site.

Don, you just missed it by a couple of months. :(

If anybody has some pics of the T-shirt, I’d appreciate it if you would post them. Would be fun to see  :D

Looks like the images were up in Carl's first post but no longer there.    I also posted images in this post:

Sadly, it seems those images got lost somewhere along the way.   I'll see if I can scrounge them up somewhere.

The front of the t-shirts had the AN street-corner logo on the left breast pocket area.   The back of the t-shirt had the attached image.  For awhile I think this was also used in the website header.   At the time we all thought it was pretty cool but it now seems quite dated.  We'd all be hard pressed to find this street corner now...

I had one in blue. I couldn't find it. I probably tossed it when Barry banned me lol

"Don, you just missed it by a couple of months. :("
Story of my life. Was going to change my name to Maxwell Smart cause I was always "that" close or missed it by "that" much.
I was kidding about not having the shirt but you guys do get all the good stuff.

Thanks, Mike for finding that. It seems like a lot of work… a bit of a complex design. It would be fun to have a AN  T-shirt again. Who knows what the cost would be now, but I’d likely pay $30 or so.

Why's the front of that shirt look soooooo familiar?
Glad to see the whole thing. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks very much, Tom. I like the nice simple round logo and that shade of blue. Might ask the local t-shirt guy if he could do one.

Nick, the original shirts were done both with black graphics on a light tan shirt and white graphics on the blue shirts.  I might be able to scrounge up the original artwork done so let me know if you decide to do something with them.  I believe the size of the originals is too large to post here on AN, but I could email them to you or perhaps share them online somehow.   Once you have the artwork, there are lots of places online now that do custom printing for you... not quite so easy 11 years ago.

Mike,
Thanks for that. I really like the look of the blue T-shirt. I’ll send you a PM with my email. The other thing I was thinking of is using our current logo that has the red. Looks pretty cool as well. I have made one phone call so far and the local T-shirt company will only do a minimum of 12. I’ll check out some of the online places.

Nick, just sent you a zip of all the graphics I could find including the red/blue logo one.   If you read through the old posts, most seemed to think that the dark image on the light tan shirt came out better than the white on the blue shirt.  But that was likely a result of the printer and the blue shirt material.  But they both looked great.

Hey new member SteveZ,  I vote for T-Shirts for all members after 500 post.  You've only got 498 more to go!

By the way, I'm kinda serious about this.  I think most of us would kick in a few bucks to encourage some newer participation.

It doesn't come through that well in the picture, but the blue shirt is actually a stone washed denim look so it has a kind of textured look to it that is somewhat unique among T Shirts.

I enlarged the picture and it does have quite a good look. Only had time for one phone call today.
