Fulla Schiit....
« on: October 25, 2019, 10:27:10 PM »

Hi all.
After a short two years of faithfull service,
my Fulla 2 went on unlimited strike.
Stop working, kapout, niet, nothing, zero.
I did everything I could imagine to bring it back to life but
it's internal.
Soooo.... Since it's not under warranty anymore
(...and even if it was, planet Vietnam is too far to send it for repair from here)
I will send it back to the factory when I'm back to Canada.
Meanwhile.... I will use my built-in microscopic speakers in my laptop.
Grrr... Draken double drak.
As soon as I have a few $ $ $  I will order a Schiit Asgard
and get it sent here via a relative,
but that will take time...

Hi all.
Yesterday I've tried again my Schiit Fulla 2 DAC to see if it's still dead.
I can confirm without any dought that it's dead, completely dead.
To bring it back to life the only thing I didn't try is a defrigilator,
I don't think high voltage would be a good idea to bring it back to life,
on the contrary...

Bummer. Have you looked inside to see if there's an obvious break in a solder joint, or melted transistor, or broken-down capacitor? It may be something simple and easy to remedy(?)

If it is a PC running Windows 10, the USB driver maybe a problem.  The updatw that added USB2 AUDIO support made my Meridian Explorer2 stop working.  Conflict with the XMOS driver.  Removed the Meridian driver and started working again.

Good luck.

The Schiit web site says that the Fulla can be powered from your computer via the USB connection or using a cell phone charger or any other 5v supply with a micro USB connection. Have you tried switching to whichever one of these powering options you were not using when the unit dies, and if you were using an external supply have you tried another wall wart. This would at least tell you if it is the DAC or the incoming DC (or lack of it) that is the problem.

Hi tmazz, HAL, Barry and others.
Thanks for your suggestions.
What I did is the following.
Open and took pictures (See below)
Everthing look normal to me.
Tried the 5V walwart, nope, nothing.
Change cables, I have two (Different makes)
Nope, nothing.
Change the RCA inteconnects on my Schiit SYS, nope, nothing.
Then came that weird idea,
swaped the cable for the mouse with the one from the DAC
and guess what ?
Alleluia, work.
Now, the mouse is in place of the DAC and the mouse work,
why the DAC doesn't work in it's original location and worked fine for two years ? ? ?
Mystery that I'm affraid will never be solved.
I also downloaded my Nikon Coolpix pictures on the terminal where the DAC didn't work
and the download was done without any proplem.
Problem solve and now I'm enjoying my '' updated setup ''.

By the way :
While I was listening to music I plug and unpluged the walwart and I could not hear any difference.
Which means to me that the laptop can supply enough power to the DAC.

One more thing.
The blue teriminal (On the right) is where the DAC was plugged.
I wonder what the '' SS '' stand for ?
I think it's the 3.0 terminal and the one on the left is 2.0 terminal
where my mouse was plugged.

I used to have a network manager at work who when he did something like that and somebody would ask him "How did you fix that?" would reply "FM", which stood for F#cking Magic.

The blue USB port is USB3.0.

When you connected it to another USB port it had to reload the USB audio driver.  Probably corrected the problem if it was a conflict with the new Win10 USB2Audio driver I posted.

Glad it is working again.
