Neil Young Harvest DVD-A is 192Khz????
« on: October 02, 2009, 09:02:50 PM »
I found Neil Young Harvest in DVD-A format today at a used record store today for $25.00.  More than I would normally spend for somthing I have on 8-track, casette, record and cd,  but I like the album and have a weakness.....  So imagine my suprise when I got it home and ripped it to wav & flac and discovered it was stored on the dvd at a 192KHz sampling rate!

This is the first DVD-A that I've aquired that plays at a sampling rate above 96Khz.  My first non analytical listening suggests that this much better than my cd rip.

I am very happily suprised and wonder if there are there any other dvd-a's that are recorded at a 192Khz sampling rate?    Does anybody have other "suprise" DVD-A that are worth aquiring and ripping to get a high quality reference digital recording????

I downloaded a high-res version of Nine Inch Nails 'The Slip'. To my surprise it was available in 24-bit 96k output..
I've never gotten into high-rez audio, though..
