Basil Poledouris: Conan The Barbarian Original Soundtrack

FLAC file from a cd I picked up for $1 at the local thrift shop!

Nothing like listening to the 'Anvil of Crom!" Reportedly scored with 20 French horns! This is the best of the 'sword and sorcery' genre of movies from the 80s. Sounds just a bombastic, loud, and impressive even after all these years and is quintessential John Milius!

Between the time
when the oceans drank Atlantis,
and the rise of the sons of Aryas,
there was an age undreamed of.
And onto this, Conan,
destined to wear the jeweled crown
of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow.
It is I, his chronicler,
who alone can tell thee of his saga.
Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

Aaron Copland  conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in performances of music from Appalachian Spring, Billy the Kid and Rodeo.

No wondering here what the composer intended the piece to sound like.

The Count Basie Orchestra: Live at Birdland

Tidal Streaming

From Amazon:
"In the history of Jazz music, there is only one bandleader that has the distinction of having his orchestra still performing sold out concerts all over the world, with members personally chosen by him, for over 30 years after his passing. Pianist and bandleader William James "Count" Basie was and still is an American institution that personifies the grandeur and the excellence of Jazz. The Count Basie Orchestra, today directed by Scotty Barnhart, has won every respected jazz poll in the world at least once, won 18 Grammy Awards, performed for Kings, Queens, and other world Royalty, appeared in several movies, television shows, at every major jazz festival and major concert hall in the world.
