Not on your list but still in the same group is the Ei KT90.1st and 2nd generation Ei KT 90's make KT88's seem sluggish in comparison. the KT90's are fast and clean and have more slam on the bottom end. I also like the Winged C 6550's that i have in the SFs 80 they seem pretty good across the entire spectrum.thanks....WCW III

Ditto the Bunkster -> SED 6550C is my fav. It is a nice tube for my cary SLI-80, single pair p/p. They are also used in AR and VTL power amps to good effect ;) Groove tubes E34Ls is also a nice tube in my Snapper. If it would sound good anywhere else, I dunno.

I heard KT88 only once (that I remember) in a Cayin A88 playing Quad 2805. Oh boy that was awesome. How much the tubes had to do with it I dunno.

Hi Bunky,

Is there a sonic difference between versions 1,2 and version 3? I know the 3s had problems with G2 but never had a chance to compare for any sonic deviations between the versions.

Thanks.

Hey Steve,I think that most of the 1st versions were earmarked for David Manley's VTL company. i own a quad of 2nd generation KT90's and they are really nice tubes.the 3rd generation had Grid screen alignment problems. i have never listened to the 1st or 3rd versions.thanks....WCW III
