I my guess it right those look like KT-150 tubes in the back.

Absolutely, good eye Tom! So if Ref 250 makes 250wpc on 3 KT120s, then a quad of kt150s should make 400wpc? Is that legal?

And a baby version with single pair KT150s per channel on the homepage:

150-200wpc? Yikes!

Damn, My VT-200 takes 8 6550s to produce 200W.

The new version might actually be able to run without added to the global warming problem.

The Ref 75 uses a single pair of KT 150 tubes for 75 watt/ch output.
Is there any info on a new G series amp using a single pair of  KT150's putting out more than that ??

I only saw a preview pic of the unit on about a 30 degree angle and the profile of the tubes looked like KT-150s and from the way they were positioned my guess it that there are four of them on the chasis.

No specs available yet.

I thought the last generation like Ref75 and Ref250 was all KT120?

I had seen a show report of a Ref 75 with KT150
http://www.theaudiobeat.com/newport2014/newport2014_favorites.htm
I had called ARC awhile back inquiring about swapping KT88's for 150's in a Classic 60. They say no can do, but more up to date models can do so. Weather you can order KT150 equipped amps from the factory, I do not know.

Thanks Greg, that's cool! 150s look awesome. I've heard nothing but praise for the KT120s soundwise.

I know the kt120 draws higher filament current than 6550, probably kt150 does too. Is that why your classic60 can't take them?

I have a friend's VT100 onlongtermloanidlovetobuyitsomeday but wornout power tubes. SED 6550C is discontinued, so I asked Jim McShane what else for VT100, whether KT120 would work, as it does in Ref110 which also used 6550C. He said no because KT120 is too heavy to mount horizontally in VT100! Pisser! He recommends TungSol 6550, says his AR customers are happy with it and he can match them well. I immediately started thinking about how to support the weight of KT120, but I don't really know if the VT100 can source the filament current anyway.
