Lasar Printer suggestions...
« on: December 06, 2011, 05:29:00 PM »
I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions. I am googling, but if someone has real world experience...

My basic needs:
Prefer lasar over inkjet.
Want to network the printer (printer is close to my router, so wired is doable).

Nice to haves:
Duplex
Color

Would like to keep below the $500...

Thoughts?

During the Thanksgiving weekend buy.com had a Brother Multifunction that was color laserjet, duplex printing, network ready for under 400.  I had it in my cart but got side tracked before I pulled the trigger.  I also saw one from HP under 400 in staples but it was not a multifunction.

The quality of most current models of both inkjets and laser printers is very good, for the most part. I would suggest basing your purchase decision on 3 things:

- feature set that you will actually use (not just bells and whistles)
- cost of replacement ink
- do you require wireless connectivity
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Wireless is definitely not a requirement. I'm not a huge inkjet fan... the ink cost and the frequency of replacement are annoying.

I might have better luck searching if I spell "laser" correctly too!  :duh

Brother seems to have some nice models in the 400ish range... not many players in this space... there seems to be a bunch of options at opposite ends of the price spectrum. Many real inexpensive B&W, and lot's of office caliber options.
