Usher Diamond tweeter speakers are finally here!
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:49:25 PM »
Everyone,

The Diamond tweeter equipped Dancer series of speakers from Usher Audio is finally shipping.  I just finished unloading my latest order from them.  They're here in stock and (almost) ready to audition.  I've got to un-box and hook up my demos to start the break-in process.  Thanks so much Ken for the help in unloading everything :)

This evening I'll have the great pleasure of delivering some Mini 2s, D616 center channels, D718 bookshelves, etc. to happy new owners that have been on a pre-order list for too long.  Some folks aren't waiting for delivery.  They're already on their way driving over here to pick up their speakers.

If anyone is interested in the Usher line of speakers and would like to hear world class performance in a "I can't believe they can do that for that price" enclosure aesthetic, give me a buzz.  I've got Diamond 718s, Diamond 616 center channel, Mini 1 floorstanders, and Mini 2 floorstanders here available for audition.  Stock should be much more plentiful from now on.  Usher, as always, makes a world class product that redefines value at the various MSRP points.

I took this picture with my Blackberry while I was following Shane going home this afternoon.  http://www.audionervosa.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=461  It was a truck load of audio goodies!

I am envious of all the guys that will be missing sleep with their new babies tonight!  Darn it, the audiophile nervosa bug continues to bite me!

Ken

PS:  Shane, I am sorry for stepping on your add but I just had to post that picture!

Big Tundra truck carry lots of speakers :)  It looks like a crazy high pile in that photo doesn't it? I've been abusing my truck lately with all the soil, stone, and mulch I've hauled with it... 1200 pounds of speakers is nothing by comparison :)

For anyone reading this that has been trying to get in contact with me over the last couple weeks, I'm getting to you.  I was in Canada doing wedding venue planning and was either non-stop go with that or in locations visiting relatives that had limited internet access.  Even though I stuffed myself full of vitamins and used Airborne before, during and after my flights, I still got sick upon my return from Canada.  I don't know what it is, but I can't fly on an airplane without getting sick.  So I've been down for the count for a few days since returning from "vacation".  I just rejoined the world this afternoon.  I'm slowly working through the insane pile of emails and returning the dozens of phone messages.  I'll get to you all.  I apologize for the delays in responding.

God bless! If it was me driving around a pile of speakers that high I'm sure that I would need a clean pair of shorts before I got to my destination.   I don't think it would be the weight that would bother me as much as  the high center of gravity of a pile that big. And of course up here some crazy NY drives causing me to  swerve or slam on the brakes......

Hope you're feeling better. That's really strange the way air travel gets to you.

It wasn't a long drive to get the speakers home and I did take all the "back roads" by NC standards between the depot and my place so as to keep the speeds down and minimize traffic interactions.  I confused Ken's GPS quite a bit with the route to my place :)

The speakers themselves were strapped very well to the pallets (the Usher distributor does a great job with this... there were 10 straps plus the wrapping) and then I strapped them as well.  It would have really taken something to move them one way or the other.  I tried to shift them before setting out to no avail.  If it had been tipsy I would have broke the pallet down and packed it differently in the truck.

Some excited new Usher owners last night.... including me :)

I really had no doubt that you had it under control, but you have to admit that was one scary looking picture.

Anyway have fun with the new toys.  :thumb:

(Just when you could use some extra sleep to shake the bug you picked up, along come the new Ushers along with their obligatory all night listening sessions - Murphy's Law.  :duh - Been there, done that, multiple times   :D)

I am betting on the Mini II's because I bought the pair back in November that he was planning to use in the showroom. :thumb:

I figured those were probably already sold and delivered!

Ken, since you were following Speakerman home, did you assist in the unloading?

Yes, I did and it was fun thinking about how many folks were going to be happy Monday Night!  Shane had a pair of Dancer Mini II's that were sold and a pair for demo!

Rich,

I haven't actually yet had the chance to listen to any of them.  I got the 718s, 616 center and mini 1s unboxed and moved into place.... but not hooked up yet.  The mini 2s are next.  I've been trying to play catch up on emails and return phone messages.  I think I'm down to 18 phone messages left to return now and only about 30 emails..... hopefully tonight I'll get to listen some with them....

The 718s, 616 center, and probably the Mini 1s will go in the theater room area to run side by side with the PSB.  The Mini 2s will stay in the main 2 channel room to swap in and out with the Harbeth Monitor 40.1s.

I've been breaking in a new set of caps on an Audio Research VSi60 integrated amp I took on trade from a local customer on the Harbeth Monitor 40.1s.  The original owner had it set from the factory with a high pass filter to integrate with subwoofers.  Sol helped me set it back to full range sound.  I'll likely switch off the Harbeth's tonight and start the break in on the Mini2s at that point.

As part of my continued support of the Usher lineup, I will now always have at least my showroom demo pieces of Diamond 718 bookshelf speakers, the Diamond 616 center channel, Mini 1s and Mini 2s here for audition.... at least until new models are introduced down the road....

I know what you mean.  Sorry.... I didn't put a smiley in there to better show my tone in response.  It definitely was interesting to see the stack >4 feet above the top of the cab of the truck.... It garnered a few double takes and interesting looks from other drivers on the way back to my place :) hehehe
