Need to get this on tour

Nice try Evan ;) I would prefer to send something that was a production unit on a tour.

Come on dude. I'm looking for a new preamp

Bill,
Looking at the production unit it says that the output impedance is 180ohms? Is the 800ohms for the pre-production one correct or just a typo? Also, on the gain which says 13 v/s 17.
-
Hi Deepak.
All production unit Purity Series preamps utilize transformer coupling outputs which gives us the 180 ohm output impedance. This particular unit does not have balanced outputs therefore does not use any output tranformers which gives us the 800 ohm output impedance.
This piece is also set for 13dB of gain.
Come on dude. I'm looking for a new preamp
Okay dude, then step up!
-
Yeah Evan, get one of those bad boys and send it out to us to break it in for you.
-
This Purity One is already broken in...... but I think he needs a Reference :thumb:
-
Come on dude. I'm looking for a new preamp
He REALLY IS looking for a new preamp......
Looks good Bill....good luck with the sale. :thumb:
-
Hi Chris,
yes, I did take it he was serious about a new preamp. I, however, was not serious about the "step up" comment as could be seen with the laughing rolly thingy.
Evan, you are mor ethan welcome to contact me if you would like more information on the Purity preamps. What features are you looking for or require?
-
If a more attractive price might help, send me an offer. I am only trying to offer non-production units at a good price to clear the racks and this is the last piece left. The only downfall is that I am busy now with Purity Reference and Statement orders so it could be a while before I get pieces built for the showroom.

Oh - you're killing me!
Unfortunately, I'd doubt you'd let the unit go for what's in my pocket - gum, lottery ticket, pocket knife, comb missing teeth. Now if the ticket hits, then we can talk.
What kind of tubes?
I fear after listening to tubed preamps, my passive pre is not getting the job done for me.
The Nervosa has hit me hard and deep.

The Purity One is based on 12au7 similar to the Bella you heard.

Hey, I resemble that. I took this pic from my drive yesterday, Amishman driving a team of 4 horses pulling a tandem trailer of hay down my street. My family still can't believe I grew up in S. Boston and now live where I do. Neither can I.
-
They get great gas mileage.....
-
Don't mean to spoil all the fun you guys are having but just wanted to let you know the preamp has been spoken for.
Okay, back to low horsepower, high gas millage alternatives.
-
..the preamp has been spoken for...
Great....good looking preamp....hope it shows up at a Rave.....

How many miles to the gallon?
and do they meet the latest anti pollution regulations?

Yep ,Bob's Spirit 1's. He actually played with the xover before shipping them to me and I hated what he did .So with his guidence and a wire cutter and a snip here and a snip there I put the xovr back to the way they were like in his demo pair (hint, hint)

I don't know about anti-pollution, but the Amish are always coming down the street selling whatever is in season, (the blackberry jam and bread & butter pickles are silly!), and there's always a pile of horse flop in front of my house.

Looking for a dropped brake caliper I would guess.

Gene is not too far off mostly due to trying to take care of my mother.
But I bounce in some forums to keep my sanity (OK Gene, what's left of it). I guess it took me awhile to figure out what was missing over at AC.
Audiowise it feels like I'm just sticking my head out of the rabbit hole.
And Evan, I'm still using the mover's blanket for sound control in front of my 60" display. That was a great idea. Thanks.
-
Hello TMT,
It's nice to see priorities come into play when it comes to family. I've been there. Kudos to youl
-
Thanks Bill.
But I can't say it was purely altruistic since I became unemployed first.
Anyway, it looks like the guys I know here like your gear! And it also looks like your getting some good industry recognition. Congratulations and hope you do well in spite of the economy.
-
Man, you guys keep getting all new toys.
I spent yesterday taking old toys to UPS store that I had sold on ebay to pay for new toys.
Glad you showed up Jack.
-
Thanks Gene. Looks like you got a great new toy. That was a good deal.

Jack I should use it more . I just was playing my system at concert levels and saw my plasma shaking on the wall :duh
-
Then maybe put one underneath the plasma if it falls off
-
So Bill, what do you think would have better synergy with the Purity One?,
- 1 matched pair of Telefunken 12AU7/ECC82 Ribbed Plates West Germany
- 1960s era Amperex
- RCA cleartops.
I noticed the reviewer on your site really liked the Amperex, seems like he reviewed a Purity One not much different than this pre-production unit.
-
Synergy really depends on a lot of personal taste, associated equipment and the room. What I like or what works in my system in my room may not do it for you. I really like the RCA cleartops but find the Raytheon (made for and marked Baldwin) to be the best tube in my arrangement.
The best inexpensive NOS tube I have found is the Sylvania 5814. Musc beter than any current production and can be found for less than $10 ea.
I like a very crisp, clean and fast presentation with lots of air and micro detail. Probably one of the reason I also like a lot of silver wiring in my systems.

I have similar taste. Any thoughts about NOS 6DJ8s? (Inexpensive ones would be nice. :D)

Bill -
It was a pleasure meeting you today, thanks for your time.
The Purity One is up and running, and Joni Mitchell's Hejira is on, and sounds fine.
This is a nice piece of audio gear.
Gene
-
Congratulation Gene.
-
Gene, It was a pleasure meeting you in person as well. Glad you made it home safe. We have another 5 inches of snow on the ground now and I just came in from shoveling the driveway. I'm really starting to hate winter more and more every year. :duh
Be sure to keep us posted as you play with different tubes.
