Title: FS: 2 pairs of Amperex Bugle Boy 6DJ8 plus one pair of Mullards
Post by: hometheaterdoc on December 23, 2008, 08:34:27 AM
For sale is two matched pairs of 6DJ8/ECC88 tubes.  These are Bugle Boys made in Holland.  My knowledge of the variations in this particular tube type is limited.  I can tell you all you ever wanted to know and more about 6SN7s because I've owned so much gear that's used that tube.  But this type hasn't been common with me.

I bought both pairs of tubes from Andy at Vintage Tube Services a while back and never opened the boxes until just now.  They were originally bought so I could use them in a DK Design hyrbrid integrated amp.  But Andy took a while to get these tubes to me, so much so that I had sold the amp by the time these arrived.  I haven't had a single amp or preamp in here since that required 6922 equivalent tubes.  He sold them to me as NOS, but the printing on the tubes seems to indicate that these have definitely been out of boxes (it's basically almost wore off on one tube and faded on another, but perfect on two of them).  So I'm not going to advertise these as NOS.  They did come from him as phono preamp capable as far as low noise.  I know Andy does have some sort of warranty on his tubes being as advertised.  So I'm sure they're fine.  I will guarantee them as working and of low enough noise to be fine in preamps/amps for 30 days after receipt.

Honestly, I forgot I had these until I just opened a box that the packing guys packed up when my house got flooded earlier this year and found them.

I also have a pair of 6DJ8 IEC Mullard NOS small round "o" getter halo 1960's - 1970 original boxes (recommended, smooth, rich sounding 6DJ8) that I paid stupid money for from Tube World.  These were used for around 100 hours in that DK Design amp.  Original boxes, etc.  Tube World has them now for $219.00.  I paid >$300 for my pair back a couple years ago.  I'll listen to offers.

I'm unsure of the value to place on the Amperex Bugle Boys.  I'd like to recoup my expenditure if possible.  PM or email me at sales at hometheaterdoc dot com to discuss or make offers.
