Rich,

Yes - Battlefield Band has performed at Laurel Theater (an older converted church building with a smaller stage, intimate setting with superb acoustics, now owned/run by the 25+ years old Jubillee Community Arts organization) in Knoxville TN several times over the years and I have gone to each show.  They have undergone quite a few changes of personnel over that span, but Alan Reid has been one constant.  The band's quality and love of traditional Scottish and Celtic music has also been consistent.

I recall the young John McCusker was their fiddler on two or three tours here - he had joined them at age 17 and stayed with the band for 11 years - and then he went on to solo and play [instrumentally  =) ] with/produce for and later marry Kate Rusby of the British folk scene.

Pat Kilbride on guitar was another Battlefield Band member early on, who left but rejoined the group in 2002.

Wow -
Battlefield Band on Thursday night, Oct 11, at Laurel Theater, and next night

Loreena McKennitt, Friday, Oct 12, at Tennessee Theatre
(Loreena McKennitt's tour which I caught in Asheville NC in April had 4 tour buses of folks, equipment, etc. - that show could never fit on the Laurel's stage...)
Tennessee Theatre acoustics are excellent (many Knoxville Symphony Orchestra performances are there).
I got a front row center seat for Loreena's show here...

Battlefield Band current lineup, etc.

Inspired by their rich heritage of Scottish music, and fired by the strength of the modern Scottish cultural scene, Battlefield Band mixes the old songs and tunes with new self-penned material, playing them on ancient and modern instruments: bagpipe, synthesizer, fiddle, guitar, cittern, flute, accordion, whistle, bouzouki and bodhran. They have been performing to international acclaim for almost thirty years. Founded by a group of friends in 1969 and named after the “Battlefield” area of Glasgow, Battlefield Band now perform throughout the world. The Battlefield Band is Alan Reid on accordion and keyboard, Mike Katz on pipes and whistle, Alasdair White on fiddle, and Sean O’Donnell on guitar.
