HiFi Rose
« on: May 03, 2022, 10:10:58 PM »
Can anyone tell me what I am looking at here or has anyone heard what this sounds like? I don't think I've seen anything like this.

Class AD with Gallium Nitride FETs. An equalizer, VU meters, and 400wpc! It looks like a future-retro piece with all those knobs and switches. It looks like the offspring of Nagra, a Yamaha receiver from the 70s, and a Swiss watchmaker.

Paul,
Nagra is what I thought of first, but the company appears to be based in South Korea. It’is amazing how good the GaN technology sounds. Supposedly AGD has some great sounding units.

With the gear driven dual pot volume control it is almost a retro meets steam punk look.  It is just funky and odd enough that it grabbed me by my old pioneer rack system daze...

That volume pot is something else.

A video on YouTube shows that the input source selector is motorized. The preamp and equalizer settings also light up. The "Pure Direct" lingo is straight from Yamaha!

Yeah, it looks like 1970s Japanese gear meets steampunk.
