I like some of the off-track stuff myself.

MF Doom is turning out some really amazing stuff.  I like pretty much anything Dan the Automator has done too.

Back to the roots, Tribe Called Quest was and is amazing.  The older De La Soul albums were joyous.

I've been a pretty big fan of De La for a long time... I picked up the latest from Q-tip a few years ago and liked that as well... but not like the older stuff..
I'm a pretty big dork when it comes to hip-hop... I like the Egyptian Lover (Egypt, Egypt) and Vanity 6... and a lot of stuff that I don't really remember who performed it.  I have always liked Prince.. but I don't know if that's really hip-hop...

Anyway, glad to see someone else besides 'me myself and I' like De la Soul. ;)

I stumbled across my Digable Planets CD a few weeks back, good listening.  Felt like it was brand new music, much better than what I overhear today.
