Legendary jazz pianist, Kenny Barron, returns with his renowned trio to deliver Book of Intuition, his latest album on Impulse. Alongside Kiyoshi Kitagawa on double bass and Johnathan Blake on drums, Barron presents a series of original compositions as well as a tune by one of his main influences, Thelonious Monk and his rendition of Nightfall, which serves as a tribute to its composer and Barrons close friend and collaborator, the late Charlie Haden. Barron has been nominated for a Grammy nine times, and in 2010 he became a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master. He was awarded Honorary Doctorate from Berklee College of Music and from SUNY Empire State. Book of Intuition finds Barron at the peak of his game, and Barron will be performing its songs across the world over the coming months

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass: Whipped Cream and Other Delights

Herb Alpert Presents 180g LP

Reissued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic album. Remastered from the original analog master tapes on 180g vinyl. The sound is very good and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the album, but I was very disappointed with the cover. The cover photo is very grainy and the colors are blotchy (similar to the way photos displayed on a computer monitor back in the old days when you had the color depth set too low to accurately display continuous tones, remember 640x480x16colors? I'm dating myself, aren't I?  ) All in all the cover looks like a copy made on a cheap color Xerox machine. So much of the fame of this album came from the cover that you would think they would make sure it looked good for an anniversary release.

I have quite a few times seen an original copy of this LP in the Crack House with a pristine cover and a record that looks like somebodies cat used it for a scratching post. I guess now I will have to keep an eye out for one of those because now I have a nice sounding copy of the album and I just need a nice looking cover to go with it.

John Rutter/The Cambridge Signers: Brother Sun, Sister Moon

American Gramaphone CD

I have owned this on Vinyl since it came out in the late 80s, but when I saw a CD copy in the 5 for $2 clearance bin at Mr. Cheapo's I figured now I can listen to it in the car as well. Made sense to me...

I'm on it. Sounds nice. I'm usually not a big fan of Impulse albums, but I'm likin' this one.  :thumb:

Gotta love Tidal... instant gratification.  8)

You feel old? The model on the cover turned 80 last fall.

Gary Karr: Adagio d'Albinoni

King Records CD

You will either like or hate this musically (I enjoyed it, but it will not be everybody's cup of tea), but the sonics are absolutely top shelf.
