Dearly Beloved [Original recording remastered]
Stanley Turrentine | Format: flac

Packing up line source speakers by yourself is hard, but good music helps.

Returning Deepak's LS6s after a loan of a few months. What a difference to go back to my own speakers.

Took my 16 year old and his girlfriend to amusement park up by the crackhouse last weekend, 2 hours each way. Made them listen to Beatles on way up, Cowboy Junkies on way home. Pleased my son actually likes Beatles, he ripped my CDs to his iPod, couldn't get a read on the C.J.s though.

If you like CJ and want your son to appreciate them, you may want to look at the XX.  The XX remind me of the mood that emanates from CJ, sleepy, sultry, aching, but is slightly brighter.  Instead of the standard guitar, bass, drums they use keyboards, but the effect is quite remarkable.  I've yet to introduce the XX to anyone who has disliked them.  XX could be a bridge to CJ for your son.

Original minty Verve double LP pressing.  This is my favorite pairing of Louis Armstrong with Ella Fitzgerald.  The arragements are dynamite and the vocal performances, as one might expect, are top shelf.  A must own for any jazz lover.

No other singer in all of jazz could match the sheer vocal ability of Sarah Vaughan.  The full range of her talents are on display on this minty original EmArcy pressing of Sassy.  It's an amazing record.

While Bill has a Ph.D. in psychedelic rock, I am still working on my undergraduate degree.    But I do like this music a lot.  There aren't too many albums that I have listened to that are more trippy than this one.  The sound quality on this Sundazed reissue is fantastic.  I have to give them credit, Sundazed has done a fabulous job of preserving a lot of 1960s rock.  From psychedlia to garage rock and lo-fi, it is really great to be able to buy a lot of this music on quality vinyl pressings since original LPs are starting to get very expensive when you do manage to locate a decent copy.

I pick this up at the library last night. Always thought of Strawberry Alarm Clock as just a one hit wonder and was pleasantly surprised with this album.

Nice recommendation. Thanks Jerome :thumb:

I'm listening to silence. Speakers upside down with new feet, electronics torn down, room bare for the ceiling panels installation to begin soon... Sad, but a necessary interruption.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have track some down.

Going to PREX Saturday as they sent out an email they got a jazz collection of 800 albums in, I'll look around for XX.

+1, I have this on cd and vinyl, though the vinyl is sorta, kinda beat.

S. Vaughan not to shabby either.

Royal Dan: A Tribute to Genius of Steely Dan
Various Artists (Artist) | Format: flac

Take some of the greatest, harmonically sophisticated pop music of the twentieth century, and add a handful of the best jazz/funk guitarists around, and what do you get?

Cocktail music I'm afraid - bit of a letdown.
