Tom Cat
Lee Morgan | Format: vinyl 180g @ 45 rpm - 2 disk set

What a fabulous sounding album, and composed of equally fabulous music. The opening tune, Tom Cat, just has balls! And sounds superb at 45 rpm. I have to get more of these when the budget allows.

mono Red Seal RCA from 1963. But it was beat by the first owner and the loud passages at the end of Bolero are distorted.

This one is wild! Schoenberg's "Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte" has a vocal recitation. It is very political, like a left wing blog from 1942. I guess there was plenty of politics to comment on in that year. I haven't listened closely yet, but I think it compares Buonaparte to Hitler. Schoenberg is a trip.  I force myself to listen to him because Glenn Gould loved him, said he was the best composer ever, after Bach. The more I listen to it, the more I see why Glenn Gould would like it. 2 peas in a crazy pod. Takes up all of side 1, screeching strings and a screaming narrator.

Second side is great if you like modern string quartet compositions.

John Arpin: The Complete Piano Music of Scott Joplin

CD

Found this at the Crack House in a loose CD bag, but unfortunately the bag only contained 2 of the 4 discs.

Gee you'd think for 75 cents at least they would give you the whole set.

Nice SQ
