Steely Dan - Gaucho

Just picked up a 2nd copy of this on way home tonight, NM for $4, plus a few other things, but cleaned and put this on as it has the following in the deadwax - "MASTERDISK" "RL" "EDP" - supposed to be a better pressing.

Tomorrow I'll pull out my old copy of Gaucho and a/b them.

Call me eclectic.
Both of these sound great on vinyl, I haven't bought the Jazz Singer on CD yet.

Full Circle - Secret Stories (CD)
- This band is very hard to describe. They are world music, for sure, eclectic but easily accessible. Somewhat electric and somewhat acoustic jazz and always interesting. Released in 1991 but still timeless and surprisingly good every time I listen to it. Same goes for their other albums which I have on vinyl.

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you'll have to blow your nose.

Minty EmArcy deep groove mono pressing.  Awesome album!  Ferguson was one of three horn players that gave the Stan Kenton Orchestra its fire in the early 1950s.

I have nothing of his, and keep running across Conquistador, which just doesn't 'grab me'.

If you had to pick just one of his albums, what would it be?

I recommend that you listen to the samples of this album on Amazon and then decide.

Pablo stereo LP.  Pablo records, founded by Norman Granz, featured many jazz legends in the twilight of their careers.  While it's true that by the 1970s artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, and others were past their creative peak, they still had a lot of great music left in them.  Most of these 70s Pablo pressings are very much worth pursuing.

Minty Clef deep groove mono pressing.  This 1956 recording was Count Basie's best album for Norman Granz and it made a star out of Joe Williams.
