I'd love to own a original Prestige vinyl pressing of this title, but with the last few that I have seen sell on eBay for more than $2,000 I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon (Where's Acoustic Sounds when you really need them!  ).  Truth be told, this CD from Original Jazz Classics sounds great, and for about $8 it's a helluva lot cheaper than a original Prestige vinyl pressing.  You can buy a lot of great vinyl with the savings.

I have this on an original Contemporary vinyl pressing but didn't feel like fetching it from one of my racks in the basement so I'm playing this from FLAC files ripped from my OJC CD.

I don't know Chris, I got the double album set, it just doesn't work for me. It's like - 'great technician, but no soul' - to my ears.

This pairs the Ahmad Jamal Trio with a string orchestra.  A number of noted jazz musicans back in the day made a big deal of recording with a string section: Charlie Parker and Ben Webster both did recordings with strings.  It can work, depending on the arragements and the selection of tunes.  But for me none of these records would be my first choice.  I only picked this album up because I am an Ahmad Jamal completist and want every vinyl LP that he recorded for Argo.  A few of the selections are great, but songs such as Ahmad's Blues just don't sound right and the string orchestra is more of a distraction than anything else.
