Bill,
Could have been worse... you could have wiped out your cartridge stylus...

Take a look at the Bren1 record clamp http://www.bren1recordclamp.com/... I was very happy with mine when I had my Well Tempered Classic TT...

Quote from the website, "Universal fit easily placed on any turntable spindle."

This clamp works by gravity only; it's mass loaded, not threaded. I had the original aircraft grade aluminum one... I would opt for the brass one...

It worked better than my original threaded spindle clamp (small 2") on my WT Classic TT.

My $0.02,

Hold on a sec. I tried the Bren1 on my VPI table and it was not a good match. Too many issues with that rubber washer needed to firmly attach the record to the platter - using it vs not using it. My imaging got all mushed up with the Bren1. I don;t think it fully engaged the record as well as the VPI clamp did.

The delrin clamp is the way to go if you can find a replacement. I don't think they are too expensive direct from VPI.

OK - VPI clone (MK III platter and bearing and stand alone motor). Still, the same type platter and bearing that eleazar would be using this on.

Thanks Bob several sights have the replacement clamp
the only diff. is the one for $149.99 is part stainless steel. The one for $99 is all Delrin. I also found just up on AudioGon a HR-X Stainless Steel Center Weight and periphery Ring Clamp for $600, just thinking should I go all out or not ??..............Bill

That's the same ring I have, I thought you said it wouldn't work on your platter.

Well, if he'll take it back should it not work, get it. And the weight.

Get the HRX feet if you can as well.

And a SDS speed box.

And a Gingko Cloud.

Which Aries platter you got? One pic is for the upgraded all Acrylic platter that replaced the heavier metal/acrylic platter(2nd pic) that came with the Aries One. I have both of them for my Aries. Original platter is slightly smaller than a 12" record, say 11 1/2".

Not sure if the ring clamp works with the original platter per this from the VPI website: Scout, Aries 1 & 2, HW-19 & older TNT owners will need to purchase the HRX platter and bearing in order to use the Periphery Ring Clamp.

Here's my TT the platter is larger than an lp 12" wide
After speaking to Tom I'll also need to upgrade my suspension due to the extra weight involved. So I placed an order for the upgrade kit

I haven't heard anything else from the seller so I just may buy a new clamp and be done with it
