Hi end it ain't,, but fun for sure.
You would be amazed at the fidelity of some of these Victrolas(orthophonic).
Its a damn nail scratching into a groove with a horn as amplifier and no electricity.

It just boggles my mind...and they look great too

You're right, it's definitely not hifi.  But it looks cool.

or you could spend 5000$ for a hi-class diamand nail! or move up the time line to light nails, which don't gouge a path. We've come a long way baby. I wonder what the next evolution will be.

on ebay 600 needles for 19.95 soft medium and loud!

I'm trying to get my hands on this from a close source and it comes with a record player built in and everything still works. This is not a pic of the actual unit but it's a Philco from 1939 with shortwave and record player. The wood work on the one my source has is original and pristine
