Mary Stallings at Ella Centennial Tribute in SD
« on: November 26, 2017, 07:32:27 PM »
Just saw Mary Stallings with Mike Wofford who was a pianist for both Sarah Vaughan and Ella.

Incredible! I have not heard her before and was unaware of her accomplishments (http://www.sandiegocountynews.com/san-diegos-copley-symphony-hall-will-host-star-line-jazz-artists-tribute-ella-fitzgerald/

Sang with Count Basie Cal Tjader, Bill Charlap, toured with Ella herself, etc. Incredibly smooth, seasoned performer, whose performance belies her age of 78!

She did an excellent audiophile recording for Clarity Records back in 1990.

Thanks, got to check this recording out.  I had the pleasure of hearing her sing her version of 'How High the Moon' that night. Still pretty good.
