How true… I saw at least three ‘final’ ‘farewell’ tours of The Who back in the early 80’s.

You are the king of this thread, therefore, I can’t be the only one here that wishes you’d give just a hint of the sound quality and/or performance caliber. We (at least me) won’t hold you to it either…

Beethoven: Lenore Overture, Symphony No. 4 - Steinberg/Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

HDTT DXD

Steinberg was an excellent conductor of Beethoven and leads an excellent performance here. The engineer for this recording was none other than Robert Fine of Mercury Living Presence fame. (While his Wife Wilma was an employee of Mercury Records, Bob remained an independent contractor and as such was free to do recordings for other folks. The Sq here is up the that standards that you would expect from him.

More information about the Robert Fine recordings available from HDTT can be found in this Positive Feedback article:

I read an interview with Lady Gaga where she talked about how hard it was to watch what the Alzheimer's had done to Tony. And yet with all that she said ad soon as the piano hit the fist note  he snapped into performance mode and was spot on.  When the song was over he may not have known where he was, but for those 43 or 4 minutes  the was his old self again.

It really is amazing how the brain works (and sometimes doesn't.)

They did a great job on that album. Considering that it will very likely be Tony's last, it is great to see him go out on top.  :thumb:

Tony Furtado: Special Event 30

DSD 128

This album was later renamed Paradise.

The direct to DSD process results in great SQ, but unfortunately the music is, IMO, simply uninspiring :x.
