Hey, It's worth it just for the picture!
How's Heifetz' Brahms? Good, I bet... That's one of my favs.
Brahms, Heifetz, Reiner, Chicago, need I say more? Great music played by great musicians. The sound quality of the recording itself is first rate, but this is a 70s reissue, not an original Shaded Dog. Unfortunately my mancave looks more like a mini-store warehouse than a listening room as it is being used for turnaround space while we continue to make the house more wheelchair friendly for my wife.
Given that most of my LP listening as of late has been from the living room on the first floor (the mancave is in the basement). It sounds great from the other room, but I can't really make a judgement on how this pressing would hold up under better listening conditions.
BTW, if you don't have a copy of that Shelby Lynne album, put it right at the top of your search list. It is top of the pile in all respects. I have heard a number of her other recordings and they are all only fair, but this on is exceptional. The Cd can be had for fairly cheap on Amazon, but the LP is the real bargin. It is a 180g pressing that has a full list price of only $12.98!
