Amp Camp Amp?

James Edward:
Howdy,
As mentioned in one of my threads threatening to wield my soldering iron- I’m looking to dive in and make something.
I came upon this and wonder if anyone has heard about it, or can take a look and see if it seems an appropriate first time project. It can be built as a stereo amp or monoblock. I’d be doing it as a stereo amp, at 8 watts per channel.

Let me know what you think.
Jim
PS- I’m not concerned about the power; my speakers are fairly efficient. I’m also not under any illusions about replacing my integrated- I’m just looking for a beginner’s project.

Nick B:
Jim,
That looks like a fun project, especially since it’s a kit by Nelson Pass. I had heard about it before. Assuming you can hone your soldering skills, would you be able to test it to make sure it works? I think I could learn to solder again, but testing…. I kinda doubt it.

I was hired to assemble two ACA 1.8s about 3 weeks ago. Customer was going to run each stereo chassis as parallel or bridge configuration. Not a beginner's project as instructions not Heathkit quality but more general with some photos.

cheers

Any suggestions appreciated for a beginner kit.

James Edward:
Steve- I’m looking at the Heathkit site. I had no idea they were still in existence. Thanks. Truthfully, I’m looking for things to hone my non-existent skills, so I’m sure anything will do. An egg timer, Tice clock, etc...
