I've had a lot of '70s R&R in rotation lately. Stealer's Wheel was a great band, but Gerry Rafferty was special. His '78 release of Baker Street marked a turn in my life as I was switching from drums back to guitar that I learned to play when I was 10. Hugh Burn's solo absolutely blew my mind back then and still does. His phrasing and tone out of his Les Paul through the Super Reverb is iconic. It took me a long time to get close to that tone with my '61 Les Paul/Deluxe combo that I had then.
Damn, I miss that guitar...
OK.. to the topic:
Gerry Rafferty: City to City. Great album.
