Music For Hotel Restaurant Bar  Vol. 3 by Mr Blue streamed via Roon

I found out about the artist Mr Blue, who is from Tanzania, through utube and then on Roon. There are 23 volumes available and many more that aren’t released yet on Qobuz or Tidal yet. I went thru all 23 volumes as I was curious. The recordings are good quality, spacious and holographic, so I looked up the studio which is Blue Heaven in Salinas KS. Their recording studio is a former church and the some of the instruments are sax, flute, accordion, piano. Fun to listen to

This is interesting. I’m listening now, and I enjoy the hell out of the 60’s kitsch he’s got going on. I’m a sucker for Bert Kaempfert, Montavani, Percy Faith, and so on. But for the life of me I can’t figure out how many would listen to this; does it have a market? And so many volumes! I looked outside of Tidal, and he’s up to volume #79!
Perhaps this is like the lounge music revival of 25 years ago.
Please don’t take this as a rebuke of the music- I love it. I just don’t get the production of so many volumes.
If a local restaurant wants to play this as I dine, I’m in…

Blue Heaven Studios is owned and operated by Chad Kasem of Acoustic Sounds for the express purpose of making high quality audiophile recordings, so the SQ of these albums does not surprise me. I have a bunch of blues albums that were done by Chad at Blue Heaven and they are very well done. I will have to check out this series.

Thanks, Tom, for advising about Blue Heaven. I’m quite familiar with the names of Chad Kasem and Acoustic Sounds, although I don’t own any of those CDs, and am checking out the Acoustic Sounds website.

Jim, I pretty much thought I was the Lone Ranger 👀 as far as liking the guys you mentioned and that genre 😱  Have enjoyed it ever since I was a little kid. Yes, I am amazed as to there being 79 volumes. I can’t  think of anything that compares. It took me quite a while to get thru the 23, but it was a lot of fun 🎶 i’m going to have to check when the stuff was actually recorded…

The Beatles: Get Back - The Rooftop Performance

Qobuz 96/24

Even though the entirety of this concert was already available as part of the Disney+ Beatles Docuseries it is nice to have it as a High Res audio stream.

Jethro Tull: The Zealot Gene

Qobuz 48/24

The first new Jethro Tull studio release since 2003's Christmas Album.

I am really liking this one. From the first few bars there is know doubt, this is a very Jethro Tull album. Brings me right back to the Thick as a Brick and Songs from the Wood era.

Yes, that cover got my attention, too. I am really enjoying my toob preamp nowadays 😀 Tom, any idea if your SP 9 has mk II or mk III upgrades? I heard an ARC amp and the SP 9 years ago at a neighbor’s place. Wonderful sound 🎶

By SP-9 is definitely the original Mk I. I bought it new in 1988. When I did they had just introduced a new and nicer looking faceplate. I never updated the unit because ARC upgrades are just ridiculously priced. The Mk 1 version retailed for $1695. The MkII version was $1795, but the MkII upgrade cost something like $800. so I never bothered. I just always felt that the $800 would be better off spent elsewhere in the system.. If I ever came across a Mk III with the remote control I would probably jump on it for that feature alone, but they sold very few remote equipped units to they are very hard to find. I have only ever seen 1 listed for sale and I called the guy withing 15 minutes of the post going up and it was already gone. The original SP9 was and still is a great preamp, so outside of getting my hands on one with a remote I don't see myself ever upgrading it.

Tacet's Four Seasons - Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra

Qobuz 96/24

The sound on this one was good, but I did not particularly care for the reading. I felt the pace was off and it seemed a little rushed. No matter how good the sound, if the music is off to me it gets tossed aside. I have enough other versions of The Four Seasons, to this one will be a one and done. (Which is a shame because I liked the KT 88 on the cover.)

Just got this from a friend that decided to sell it.  Got to say, it's better than my original 6 eye, and my Japanese pressing.  Pricey but already selling for 50% more that I paid.
