notes:
This show is one of the best sounding from the japan run..
I still don't think this is complete it might even be a mix from a early and late show.
But the performance is still great..This might even be a board tape it sounds that good..
Tapes obtained in a trade from a green bay "Packers" fan..I was told this show was "no copy"
for years....there is fade out at the end of Jammin'  due to the tape flip..
No noise reduction or equalizing was done...
tape transfer done by me Tim Jones on 10-30-2005

David Bowie  - Soul Asylum
Date:15 February 1973

Venue: Radio City Music Hall, New York, USA

Musicians:
David Bowie, vocals, acoustic guitar,saxophone
Mick Ronson, guitar, backing vocals
Trevor Bolder, bass
Mick Woodmansey, drums
Mike Garson, keyboards, mellotron
Ken Fordham, alto, tenor and baritonesaxophone
John Hutchinson, rhythm guitar,backing vocals
Brian Wilshaw, tenor saxophone, flute
Geoffrey MacCormack, backing vocals,percussion

A lot going on on these two discs-- The New York show is a complete recording and sounds great.
It's an audience recording and you often get a good sense of the crowd's excitement at seeing Ziggy on stage.
The comments between some of the trax are great!
The trax from "Alladin Sane" are particularly well done.
On disc 2 there are some trax from the show at Kingston Polytechnic from May 6th 1972,
including versions of "I feel Free" and "Gotta Get a Job."
After that there's a version of "John, I'm only dancing" from "Top of the Pops."
Following this track on the actual "Soul Asylum" bootleg,
is the official version of "John, I'm only dancing (again)."
I'm not torrenting this track for obvious reasons.
If you want to recreate the "original" bootleg, you can always add it!
The final track is Jean Genie taken from the NY show from the day before (Feb 14th '73).

Notes:
JEMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 24 is one of Dave's master recordings of Bonnie Raitt touring in support of her album Home Plate. This is an excellent sounding but slightly hissy recording. The fact that Bonnie Raitt was ignored by mainstream radio during this time is downright criminal as this recording will attest to. This is a great show and recording and should not be missed by anyone who even remotely likes music.
