Just throw it in the trash when it doesn't work any more (along with those spirally mercury-laden energy efficient lights that you're supposed to recycle...); our landfills / groundwater need more everything in them. 8-[

Most of the mercury vapor ends up in the air before it gets to the landfill because they break in the process of getting thrown in the bin.. whether it's blue, brown, green, or yellow.. same with most light bulbs... Not the manufacturer's problem.. they made their money and called it 'green' ....one of the best capitalist marketing hypes I've seen.  Humans are hilariously inconsistent.
