The Oscar Peterson Trio - The London House Sessions

Verve 6 CD set

I have been listening to this in the car over the past couple of weeks. It's a lot of Peterson to sit down and listen to at home, but it made for some good car listening broken up among many trips around town.

Sonny Rollins: Road Shows, Vol. 1

Emarcy CD

Found this at the library and thougt I would give it a try. It is the first of three volumees of live recordings done over the past 30 or so years.

I am liking this one and will be returning soon to check out the other two volumes.

Ok, I found version #25.  :D

Gov't Mule: Dark Side of the Mule (Deluxe Edition)

Evil Teen 3 CD, 1 DVD Set

I have to say, this is one of the better cover Versions of DSOTM. This recording of a Gov't Mule concert in Boston on Halloween 2008 is nice from both aperformance and a SQ basis. While the Deluxe version dost contain more cuts from Dark Side than the standard release, they still do not play the complete album. (They stop at "Money" :( )

However, they also include cover versions of a number of other Floyd songs and some Gov't Mule originals, so all in all I consider this a worthy addtion to the collection.

The DVD cntains video of the entire show in both stereo and surround sound.

A very young Glenn Gould.......

Yes, and it sounds it. The passion of youth!

This was his second recording for Columbia, in 1956. His immaturity and hyper-imaginative interpretations work better on Beethoven than on his first Bach Goldberg, imo.

Update:

For what its worth, I took a look at the DVD last night. The sound is OK but the video production is rather amatuerish. The lighting was obviously set up for the benefit of the audience, not the video and as such the whole thing is rather dark and dingy.I guess it is OK if you are a real fan and just want to see what the show was like, but it is not something that I could see mayself sitting down to watch purely for enjoyment. As a free bouns with the Deluxe Edition I guess it is OK, but it certainly is not something that they could sell as a stand alone video release without pissing off a lot of people (IMO , of course.)
