This was the find of the weekend at the Crack House. Mint condition West German import LP. But is was Sunday so there were no discounts and I had to pay the full 69 cents for it.

This original 1956 mono pressing on Contemporary just came in the mail on Saturday.  In fact a lot of new vinyl has landed on my doorstep over the past week but an extremely busy work schedule has kept me away from it and AN.  I'm hoping that I will have more time over the next few weeks but I have to put work first -- gotta pay the bills and all that.

My goal with the Contemporary label is to own every record featuring Shelly Manne, Andrι Previn, and Barney Kessel.  I have a lot of them but not all of them.

Yep.  I was very fortunate to find an original 1st pressing still sealed.

Jenn Grant...

I can't decide if she sounds like Fiona Apple, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Bush or all or none of the above.  This was another pickup from WUSC's bag o' CDs spree at the annual Columbia, SC record show.  Good stuff, second spin in as many days.

on LP.  This is a great KD record. Compositionally probably his greatest achievement. This is Kenny playing and writing in his modern style, but in top form.

A couple weeks ago I bought something on Amazon that won me a .99 credit toward mp3 purchase. I held onto it thinking I might grab a pop track I like, or for my kids. Last night I heard a big band Lazybird and thought I'll look for that, but couldn't find on mp3 track. So today, reading the news I found a story about how Lady Gagas new album caused Amazon download server to meltdown under the demand from their sale of her new album for .99.  My oldest kid likes her and just got her previous CD for his birthday. So sure enough all I had to do was one click and it was mine all mine! wooohoo..    Then install the Amazon music downloader, download 121MB of tracks, and pdf liner notes.  Some of the things she does are revolting, while other things are very good, for a pop star. Overall, I'm glad I got this record for only a buck, but looking forward to blasting it tomorrow morning before school.

OK, two weekends ago I went on a tear through some of the LPs in my collection from MoFi. Over the past few days I have been revisiting some of the vinyl issues by their chief competitor at the time, Nautilus Super Discs. Nice sounding half speed mastered (and some original Direct-to-Disc) records and although they did score a few musically significant rock releases the overall musical quality of their catalog never really rose to that of MoFi. But they did have a number of releases worth owning. (I picked up most of them at bargain basement prices during the mid-80s bloodlettings that occurred as people dumped their LPs collections in favor of the new "perfect sound forever" medium. It's been another really busy couple of days and while I have had the TT spinning quite a bit, I have not had the time to sit down and do the postings. So there it goes:

Heart: Dreamboat Annie
