Pearls Before Swine ~ These Things Too

    CD

"Frog In The Window"
By Tom Rapp

The frog in the window will sing for you
The frog in the window will smile for you
With his straw hat and his cane
And you know that you will not be the same
'Cause the frog in the window will dance for you
He'll tap out the rhythm in bright red shoes
And if you ask why this is done he'll say
You're only old when you will not be young

And the frog in the window will answer you
The questions you bring in a cup to view
And if his answer is not the best
It's so much better than all of the rest

But you say there are so many things to be done
And he says right back that there's really just one
'Cause you're talking of death and he puffs
Just being born is problem enough

And the frog in the window will cry for you
If you're not busy dying he'll pray for you
Glass beads in his hand
But you just stand there 'cause you don't understand

Jerome
During our talk I neglected to tell you I bought a complete set of Beatles LPs
on Japanese Vinyl about 4 years ago they but they didn't have the obi strips
at a cost of $20 per LP and $30 for the White Album

I'd make that deal. You can't listen to an OBI strip, so if not having them lowers the price because the record is "less collectable", that would be a plus in my book.

Good find.   :thumb:

Really busy day today, so I am just catching up with my posting for the weekend. Inbetween taking care of my wife, since we have no home health aid on Sundays, I spent most of the day in the basement  building a storage rack for LPs. Even thought I was working on the unfinished side of the basement the TT was running all day pupming in tunes from the mancave.

How about some pics of your new lp rack Tom.........Bill

Bill as per your request here is a pic of the new rack. Just for reference the entire unit is 53" wide and 78" high. As I mentioned before each shelf is 50" wide and there are 4 shelves for LPs and on smaller one for Books, Magazines etc.

A bit earlier in the year we were chatting on one of the threads about racks and I mentioned that Ikea made a nice bookshelf systems that a lot of guys were using for record storage. At the time I couldn't remember the name of the model I ran across it today. It is line of bookshelves is called Expedit and they come in various sizes. They are really not all that expensive and I have seen photos of them in peoples homes and the shelves show very little drooping even when fully loaded with records. Further info here:

TMAZZ -

Bill knows full well about the Expedit line, he put me onto it, with the result below.

Gene,

When I said "we"  were discussing racks I really meant "we as in terms of the whole AN community. I couldn't remember who exactly I chatted about it with or in which thread (I do remember is was kind of a sidebar to the main topic, which is probably why I had a hard time finding it) so I figured I would just throw in in on the end of this discussion in hopes that whomever it was who asked back then would see this response.)
But be that as it may I think your picture verifies what I was saying. Those shelves look awful straight and steady give the weight that is on them. thanks for chiming in.

Tom

BTW - judging from the picture I think there is one defect with that rack ... It has empty space in it!   .
See what you can do about that.  :thumb:

Gotcha Tom.

As for the rack, it's 3 units containing just the classical I bought in last 16 months. Still have to add jazz, and rock from my errant youth, so though it appears there's space, I actually need another unit already.

I'm shocked.

Been there, done that, several times unfortunately  (or maybe fortunately, depending on your point of view.  :thumb:)

Everyone is at Pete's today. I guess I'm holding down the fort.  Cleaning and listen to records from the distant past.

I remember listening to this one on my portable Aiwa cassette player in 84 when I was riding the train to school in Boston. After a while I got tired of the 20 minute long title track, but the rest is really nice. Wayne Shorter and Grant Green.
