Jerome I'd be interested to her your thoughts on the Sundazed LPs

I own a bunch of them and just ordered another dozen or so.  I think the overall quality is very good.  The pressings are not as nice or as quiet as expensive audiophile LPs from the likes of Speakers Corner or Pure Pleasure Records, for example.  But a Sundazed LP is only about half the cost too, so I'm not going to complain about a wee bit of surface noise.

What I don't know is whether or not Sundazed is using original master tapes.  I can't say that I have ever compared a Sundazed LP to an original minty pressing to see how it stacks up.  But then in fairness, I really haven't done such comparisons with other reissue labels either.  My belief is that if it sounds good then it is good.  There's usually no need for me to dig any deeper than that.

This is a 12" 45RPM record with 3 singles on it.  On the B side is How Soon is Now?, which is my favorite song from The Smiths.  Odd that the song was never released on one of their original LPs, but it does appear on the CD version of Meat is Murder.

It's nice to see you getting some mileage out of that Mosaic Hank Mobley set, Gene.  Glad you're enjoying it.

+1 for How Soon is Now, followed by Bigmouth Strikes Again, though that might be Morrisey in his solo phase.

Dang Bill, I bought a Byrds lp when at the crackhouse with you one day, haven't seen it in awhile though. Bought it for 8 Miles High.

My ex just left, I gave her and my son a short list of CDs with Tina Brooks to get me for my b-day next weekend, so very soon i should bve listening to 1 or more of;

Back to the Tracks - Tina Brooks
Open Sesame - Freddie Hubbard, feat. Tina Brooks
and/or
Jackie's Bag -Jackie McLean, feat. Tina Brooks

Great swinging jazz in combo setting with west coast's finiest musicians. Maynard is blowing some really good real jazz, even some valve trombone solos.

The first track, "Maiden Voyage" was written and arranged by Willie Maiden, recorded here in 1954. Herbie Hancock wrote the more famous version in 64. The doofus record label for this reissue was written in 1976 lists H. Hancock as the composer.  :duh
