When I was at Busch Gardens in VA a month ago, we were sitting in the French section eating ice cream listening to the canned outdoor French theme music. It was a really nice jazz vocal CD. A small combo with a good female singer, in french. I wished that I remembered the name of that service where you play the song into the cell phone and it tells you the artist and album. I asked the souvenir store if they knew who it was but they did not. They only said that one of the 4 albums in rotation was Celine Dion. I didn't think it sounded like her, but maybe from a long time ago? So I just search Amazon and listened to Dion's French albums, they sound the same as her English records. Not even close.
I don't suppose anyone knows who I'm talking about, but can you recommend some good contemporary French jazz singers that I can sample to see if I can home in? There was a trumpet on the session too, but I don't remember exactly how many instruments. The attitude was humble but modern. She was really good.
Thanks
Rich
