Title: Time for a Change BACK to LPs
Post by: rollo on November 21, 2015, 07:44:55 AM
For the last year or so CD was the go to music source for me. My Loesch & Weisner phono/pre just was not up to task.  Tubes were failing [ WE 417A] and hard to find. Needed repair as well. Sat tight and figured I would synerigize my system for CD. So checked out computer and DACs VG but lacking for me in dimension and geshalt. Ripped music was just not for me even free. I got VG sound but never satisfied 100% Digititus had me edgy. No agruements this is my personal opinion.
Sounds really good but I miss my music. Meaning 2000LP's with what I really like. What was I thinking. :duh :duh. Digital was alwys my second choice or when I was just lazy to play an LP. Oye !!
So I'm re-entering the game again. Purchasing a Miyajima Shilabe MC cart. [ robinwyattaudio.com]
A custom Miracle Audio phonostage made to order for that cart.
Excited again, all over again.

Nice cartridge, Charles. Yeah analog just sounds more musical.
Digital can sound very good but, after awhile something bothers me.

Yep, tubes & vinyl rule! Analogue, for sure! The simpler, the better!

The main reason is the library of music on vinyl. Cd for me was always a conveinent way to listen. The fact that digital has come a long way especially with DHT designs made getting up every 18 minutes  chore.
What was I thinking ? Lazy is as lazy does. Get up change the LP and be very happy.
In order for my CDP not to feel bad it just got new Gold Lion 12AT7 tubes.
    Back to the future.

Yes my purchasing of LP's this year has outpaced CD and downloads combined.

Three new Beatles re-issues for Christmas on 180gm vinyl. Plan on listening whilst on the total gym tonight. DITTO -- tubes (my flavor being OTL) and vinyl = sweet :D

True that partner. Just trying to get more flexibility back, core and leg strength. Have been kind of lazy over the last 4 months.  Will start the putting mid Feb.
