Spent a day with Eleazar and his better half at the crackhouse, then went to "THE LAIR OF THE PUMKINMAN" to audition his Vandersteen 3As, he has a very cozy and intimate setup, I could have stayed all day, (possibly napping), but had to roll out after a bit as it was a drive home. Still, played a few albums I know well, I think I may become a Vandy convert. He also had collected a few albums for me I'd been looking for, which added to what I bought, made for a productive day.

From Pman, on vinyl;

Only the Lonely by Frank Sinatra , both a domestic and import copy
Watertown by Frank Sinatra
Teaser And The Firecat by Cat Stevens
Catch Bull At Four by Cat Stevens
Footsteps in the Dark by Cat Stevens
Numbers by Cat Stevens
Izitso by Cat Stevens
B.L.T. by Robin Trower

Purchased some Gerry Mulligan vinyl

What Is There to Say by Gerry Mulligan
Jeru by Gerry Mulligan
Compadres (Recorded Live in Mexico) by Dave Brubeck Trio and Gerry Mulligan
Blues Roots LP by Dave Brubeck Trio and Gerry Mulligan

And also on vinyl,

Adventures in Time by Dave Brubeck
Roll With It by Steve Winwood
Jazz Ultimate by BOBBY HACKETT & JACK TEAGARDEN
Suicide Sal by Maggie Bell

And on CD

Ballads by Stanley Turrentine
Reflections by Stan Getz
Stan Meets Chet by Stan Getz and Chet Baker
Best of Chet Baker  by Chet Baker
Jimmy & Wes: Dynamic Duo by Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery
Quiet Now: Dreamsville by Sarah Vaughan
Essential - Great Songs by Sarah Vaughan
The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard by Freddie Hubbard
Page One by Joe Henderson
In a New Setting by Milt Jackson

Don't let him kid you, he has his main listening area with a pair of amber hurricane lamp type bulbs, and he cut some amber glass to go over the window, nice mood. Oh, and a pumpkin orange phone.

Outside that is another 'hanging' area with some audio equipment, tv and the funkiest lighting, about 6 strands of small Xmass lights running back and forth every which way on ceiling, and every bulb is orange. And an orange phone.

Beyond that walls and walls of lp's, and another wall of CDs, I never got a chance to go through them  :duh, but considering how often he posts what he's bought, you wouldn't be surprised by how extensive the collection is.

No not surprised at the records. If you're gonna listen to vinyl and not get bored, you need a nice pile of records.  But I did think the pumpkinman was just his online alter ego. Now I know he really is THE PUMPKIN MAN!

Not actually from the from the Crack House, but I picked up a great deal on some 200g Classic Records reissues from TheMusic.com

These are new LPs. They are surplus stock in plain white jackets, but the LPs themselves are in perfect condition. Some are the full albums and some are single LPs from a multi disc set. But the goos part is they were only $5 each.

33 1/3 RPM Discs:

Stephen Stills  (Self Titled) - Whole album
The Reiner Sound - Whole album
Harry Belafonte Returns to Carniegie Hall (Disc 1 Only)
John Coltrane Live at the Half Note: One up, One Down (Disc 2 Only)

45 RPM Discs

John Coltrane: Blue Train (Side B2)
Cannonball Adderley: Something Else (Side A1)
John Lee Hooker: Chameleon (Side B1)
Willie Nelson: Stardust (Side 3)
Bizet: Carman (LSC-2449 Side 4)
Strass: Also Sprach (LSC-1806 Disc 3)

Oh! , 45rpm at $5, count me in. Even if only one side, I just ordered Sarah Vaugh and Cannonball Adderly.
