HMMMMM was thinking that coaxial cable might be a good alternative to standard. Any thoughts ????

The cable from the tonearm to the transformer or head amp should be shielded, since the signal is so damn low for MC's. For HOMC's and MM's, maybe not so much of an issue. Coax is shielded by design, but it's not too hard to shield a twisted pair also.
