Speaker stand suggestions?
malloy:
In the same vein as Stereonut's earlier thread on affordable racks, I am looking for affordable speaker stands that aren't Pangea. I am looking to replace my el-cheapo Sanus MDF stands with something that hopefully does not cost more than the speakers they are to be used with!
I need at least 28" or 30" stands for small bookshelf speakers. Maybe something in the $300 range?
This Argosy stand caught my eye, it has the Isoacoustics isolation thing on top, but they are too tall. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Argosy/Spire-360i-Speaker-Stand-with-IsoAcoustics-Technology.gc?rNtt=argosy&index=8
Thanks!

I use the Skylan SP-27 (27" height $335) for my KEF LS50s. They recommend filling them with rice or kitty litter (I used rice). They also make a product called the Q-Brick for isolation which you might find useful (I just use the rubber feet that came with the KEFs).

Look at B&W and Pangea.

I have B & W stands. They’re 24” and believe they don’t make a taller stand.

Good to know. The 24" B&W are a no brainer. BTW make sure the tweeter is at ear level when sitting on a stand. Usually about 39" above finished floor to center line of tweeter.
