Audio Research Reference 5
« on: July 08, 2009, 03:30:08 AM »
Audio Research has announced the release of their new REF 5 preamp...I think it will list for $12000.00 !

Leon, at Audio Advice...in Raleigh...let me know that they got in their demo, late last week.

Hmmmm...must resist temptation...hahaha ...boohoohoo ...I can't afford one!!

Here are some early pics...http://www.audionervosa.com/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=15

Changes are...one large horizontal circuit board, instead of 3 verticals, a large power supply, and more gain.

CooL!  I saw a dealer announcing it in TS mag.

The power supply takes up more than half the board space. Traces are huge! See all those cute little ICs on the input?  And those big golden output coupling caps.

Good stuff. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about it.

It is supposed to be a big step up from the Ref 3 and a few people who I know that have heard it, say it is.

$12k??  That's some serious scratch!
