Anyone familiar with the Butler 5150?
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:04:20 PM »
I'm hoping to be able to escape from mid fi mediocrity eventually and get into a multi channel amp with vacuum tubes in the output stages. I enjoy both home theater and music and the 5150 seems like a best of both worlds hybrid. Is the 5150 the best value for the money or are there any other competitors out there in a 5 channel tube amp worth considering?

What are the chances I could sneak one into my rack without getting shot by my wife?

I have one in my HT system...and it sounds great...crystal clear, quiet, dynamic, etc.

If you watch the used equipment sites, then you can usually pick one up for about half of the original retail...which makes it a damn good bargain  8).

Not sure about getting one past the wife...I don't have one of those...to deal with .
