2015 Axpona in Chicago
« on: April 27, 2015, 09:01:06 AM »
Decent show but a lot more laptop music this year versus LP and RTR last year.
Magico Q7 MkII  -- unbelievable sound but $229K/pr!! Yikes.  Sonus Faber Lilium very, very nice at $70K but still prefer the Aida's from last year. Very impressive Legacy Studio HD bookshelfs at $1,800 -- exceptional.  Which I was in the market for smaller speakers -- these were excellent.

Yup sure did.  I didn't see Pete there though.  Maybe at lunch. Had a friend with me and he was in the market for some goodies so I was waltzing him around. Has a huge HT room and it is in sore need of room corrections due to physical size. Ended up purchasing an Emotiva new processor. The demo was pretty cool. Now my work begins in setting it up for him!

Actually, listened there quite a bit. Made me sad that I sold my K-horns 8 years ago due to a residence change and no room. Quite the display and eyes were closed as I listened and smiled.......

Too bad!!! I swear I did 90% of the DeeJaying the whole 3 days, switching between vinyl & CD playback... I believed I played more vinyl than CD's...

... and I played 100% of the music requests, from the attendees own collection (CD & vinyl) or our "in-house" music...

A few times each day we "shook the rafters", with some Yello, Tower of Power or Bruno Mars...

It was fun!

Cheers,
Pete

Yeah Pete, I was there about 11:45 on Saturday and listened for about 15 minutes. Wish I was there when you jammed Bruno.  I had some conversations with my Zu brothers down the hall after that. You guys had a great set-up and hope you got some excellent leads.

As it should be. Too many rooms at the Broolyn show last fall would only play their own music. Made me wonder what they were hiding..........

What impressed me the most was in a live recording of an unnamed female artist (forgot to look) the details of her "breaths" and in the same frequency range the brushing of a snare at the same time. The depth of these two were an incredible soundstage.  On a some harder "rock" - Come and Go Blues by Warren Haynes, which I really like, with eyes closed, I was physically there. Again, separation of the various guitars was extremely impressive.
