Title: Look out Scan Speak, SEAS, SBA, etc! Here comes Purifi
Post by: mresseguie on January 13, 2020, 08:38:05 AM
Have you heard about this company? Have you read about their new midwoofer? Here are some tidbits:

PTT6.5W04-01A 6.5" midwoofer

https://purifi-audio.com/tech/

https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/reviews/purifi-ptt65-woofer-and-1et400a-amplifier-technology-review-r866/

I spent over an hour reading up on this driver, and I must say I'm excited.  :yay2: I have found myself thinking I ought to contact someone about creating a two-way speaker with this midwoofer.

I do need another speaker, right guys? I'm sure of it. Help me out here.  :thumb:

Very interesting. Sounds like fun. -3db at 32 HZ in room is VG for its size.

Yes, I’m sure you do  8) Was curious about the pricing and it’s about $350
The first guy to contact is probably Fritz

So just order a set of Fritz speakers using them? Maybe?

The Purifi is a nice driver for sure.
...but I see no audible advantage over the Dan Wiggins designed 7" Anarchy, which actually has slightly more clean stroke LF output capability.
Where the Purifi excels is measured mid band distortion...at levels uncorrelated to either audibility...or preference.
Looks great "on paper" though. For many, that's enough.

cheers,

AJ

I should keep it secret since they keep selling out fast, but alas... :)

i can see why they sell out, at those prices.  i need to investigate tapped horn subs w/these.  there's a build flat to 25hz w/one that i've seen, but flat to <20hz would be better.

thanks, aj!

You're welcome Doug. I do recall some tapped horn subs using these, out there somewhere. But they are solid up to mid frequencies for 2 way use as well..with a competent XO of course.
