HAL at CAF2023
« on: August 24, 2023, 05:27:56 PM »
Looks like HAL will be at CAF2023 in Rockville MD, Nov 10-12.   Room number will be 708.

The system so far will be a fully active 3-way version of the Magnepan MG10/QR speakers with OB servo subs using the dspNexus 2x8 system.

Will be using two pairs of Orchard Audio Starkrimson Monoblocks driving the planar drivers.

Will be streaming with Qobuz, as the track record at shows is about 99% music selection availability.  Lets see if your track is available to play.

Hope to see folks at the show for a listen!

Nick,
No.  This time I am converting a pair of Magnepan MG10/QR speakers to biamp with the dspNexus 2x8 DSP crossover.  Will add a pair of OB servo subs since the LF cutoff of the planars is 80Hz.

Since the dspNexus 2x8 works for converting passive crossover speakers to DSP active crossovers, wanted to show that capability this time.  The room is also 13ft x 20ft, so better for a standard room setup.

Just got a pair of Magna Risers for the MG10/QR's yesterday to install.  This should be interesting.

Also, might be a surprise along the way if things get completed in time.  You just never know.  :)

Made it to the Hilton Twinbrook Pkwy, Rockville, MD CAF2023 show hotel and got to say hello to Gary Gill.

Truck is parked at the hotel to make it easier to move the equipment into the demo room tomorrow.

Getting closer! :)

Day 2 of CAF2023 is complete.

System is up and running and sounding really good!

Leo from Orchard Audio is here along with Al Clark from Danville Signal to discuss their products and then listen to them.

Qobuz is working well and so far only one track requested was not available.
