Your Love Over Gold post got me poking through my music library.  Hadn't played this for a while.

CGT is a very interesting group.  They do some really nice stuff.  The one I posted is pretty hard to find.

Bryan,

I lucked out on this one. My local library has a copy of the Kill to Get Crimson CD. I put in an online hold for it and hopefully will be able to get over there tomorrow to pick it up.  :D

Your last post got me to poking around by Knopfler discs and I can across this one-

Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins: Neck and Neck

Nice sounding British vinyl.

Tag, you're it! ;)

Got that one too.  Gotta be in the right mood but good stuff.  Chet is a legend but Mark just blows him away playing.

Bryan

David Benoit: Heroes

David Benoit pays homage to some of his favourite recording artists that have had a distinct influence on his creativity throughout the years. The music of Dave Grusin, Elton John, The Doors, Horace Silver, Miles Davis, The Beatles and Dave Brubeck are very diverse in style, but, similar in terms of impact on the legendary contemporary jazz pianist's career.

Frank Sinatra: Live at the Meadowlands

Here is just another example of an album that was released long after a performer's death in an effort to cash in on his reputation. This is a recently released recording of a 1986 show that Sinatra did at the Brendam Byrne arena in NJ. Now one would ask, if this recording was so good, why did they wait 23 years to put it out. You don't have to listen to it for too long to unravel that mystery. AS much as I enjoy listening to Sinatra, I have to say that Frank simply did not bring his "A-Game" to NJ that night. The  SQ is not bad, but the performance is just not up to the standards of technical excellence and showmanship that we are used to from Sinatra. He made many excellent records. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

I'm sure glad I previewed the library's copy before a laid down any cash on the counter for this one.

That's too bad.

Probably still like some old quarterbacks who shall remain nameless.  Not up to stuff but still better than most on most days.

Frank Sinatra, Jr. sang on stage in some new "lawyers in vegas" TV series a couple nights ago. He was not his father, but he sounded damn good. Sings in tune and in time, with style and sincerity, all the important things. I just googled him and listened to a track from his 2008 recording That Face, it's good but not great.  The TV appearance was spot on. Maybe the TV producer is better music maker than the record producer.
